Dear Mr. Monko

Dumaguete's underwater garden (1987) by Pacita Abad

Dear Mr. Monko

I heard that you have been struggling with deep sadness and regrets. I really dislike boys who mope all day long. You remind me of the cuttlefish I saw during one of my night dives. He was so scared of the world that he turned himself into a coral. Because he kept wanting to be someone else besides himself, he blended in and lost all that I loved about him. The irony is, cuttlefishes are kings of camouflage. So I loved him anyway even when he turned into a coral. I just hope he doesn't learn how to transform into a mattress. I might not be able to resist him if he does as I have a profound connection with my mattress...

Eternally yours,

Sex Sax Six
